Asuka Claims STARDOM Was Created To “Defeat” Her

Asuka at WWE SummerSlam

In a series of messages on social media, Asuka took aim at her critics and sections of the wrestling media.

In 2015, Asuka became the first Japanese female wrestler to sign with WWE since the legendary Bull Nakano back in 1994. The Empress of Tomorrow arrived with a huge reputation and quickly set about wowing audiences as she dominated NXT.

However, her rise through the ranks in Japan didn’t come without its challenges, with the star believing she was treated badly by sections of the media.

These problems recently came to the surface in a series of tweets in response to a message from a fan that has since been deleted. Asuka began by accusing some members of turning against her because she didn’t “flatter” them.

“I don’t flatter anyone. Even in Japan, the media hated me because I don’t flatter the media. In Japan, everyone was flirting with the media except me. I fought the media alone to take care of my fans. That’s why some of the Japanese media still hate me. That’s why I’ve always been a freelancer. And Everyone in Japan knows I am anti-Joshi Pro. Always,”

The star added that STARDOM was created to “defeat” her, but those involved failed.

“The former editor-in-chief of Pro Wrestling Weekly has made this point on several occasions. That is, Stardom is an organization that was created to defeat me. It is an organization that was created to destroy me personally. But they failed to defeat me. I don’t know what happened to them after that because I came to America,”

Asuka said that the media have always wanted her to fail, but the likes of Charlotte Flair, Triple H, and Becky Lynch always supported her.

“The media could not bring me down when I came to America. They must have really wanted me to fail. I am used to it because I have been fighting my critics alone since my days in Japan. But now that I am here, I have comrades in arms. Charlotte, Becky, HHH and… I’ve walked alone in the wilderness all my life, and here I have an oasis. To the Asuka antis, I say, beat me up on the Internet all you want. I grab everything,”

The former WWE Women’s Champion closed by recalling her constant battle for recognition.

“When I became champion, one media outlet asked wrestling fans, “Do you think it is good enough to be champion? “Do you think it deserves to be champion?” Compare me to other people. Do you think my abilities are inferior? Can you believe that? I was always fighting that media all by myself,”

When Did Asuka Lose The Women’s Championship?

After a short hiatus, Asuka returned to action in the 2023 women’s Royal Rumble match with an updated character, reminiscent of her time as Kana in Japan. Since then she’s featured prominently on television and won the Women’s Title at Night of Champions.

However, Asuka’s run recently came to an end at SummerSlam at the hands of Bianca Belair who herself quickly lost the gold to Iyo Sky.
