Eric Bischoff has never pulled any punches when discussing CM Punk and it appears that he isn’t going to start anytime soon.
On April 24th, CM Punk got to the wrestling world talking once again by showing up backstage at WWE Raw. This was the first time that he had attended a WWE event since walking out of the company in 2014, and comes just weeks before he’s reportedly set to return to AEW television.
Punk is said to have briefly hung out backstage speaking with Triple H and The Miz among others before being asked to leave by security at the behest of Vince McMahon.
While only Punk knows the true motives behind his visit, many people, including some within WWE, have wondered whether the move was nothing more than a publicity stunt.
Speaking on his podcast, 83 Weeks, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff believes the visit was just that. Bischoff reiterated that he has “zero respect” for Punk, commenting that he’s a “desperate little b*tch.”
“What a desperate b*tch. Maybe because I have zero respect for him, like none. To me, it just came off as a desperate move for attention. I did controversy. When controversy works in your favor, it’s great, but controversy can also have blowback. I don’t think there’s gonna be any blowback or negative reaction to this other than maybe from me, which doesn’t clearly matter. But to me, he just comes off as a desperate little b*tch, which is really what he is. He’s a b*tch. He’s a whiny, overrated b*tch.”
Bischoff went on to say that bringing back Punk to be the star of the new yet-to-be-announced Saturday show Collision is “the dumbest move in the world.” The veteran added that at the infamous post-All Out media scrum back in September Punk made Tony Khan look like “an absolute douchebag.”
“My opinion of him is based on what I, after having been a wrestling fan almost all my life and spent 30 some odd years in the business, look for when I’m looking at talent. To me, the cat is overrated. I don’t give a f**k who’s spending $52 million on him. I think that’s like the dumbest move in the world. There’s gonna be some executive somewhere that’s going to be wishing they didn’t make that call. I just don’t get it. I don’t.
But hey, good for him. Good for Tony. If Tony can suck it up and realize that he’s bringing a guy back that made him look like an absolute douchebag sitting next to him at a press conference. He made Tony look like the smallest piece of trash I can imagine, and you’re gonna bring that guy back because somebody’s going to pay you a lot of money to do it? Good for you, man. Good for you. I wouldn’t do it. I would not do it. It’s not worth it.”
CM Punk To Be Joined By Another Surprise
CM Punk will reportedly make his AEW return on June 17th at the Chicago Center in Chicago on the debut episode of AEW Collision. This is of course the same venue where he made his debut for the promotion back in 2021.
However, it has been reported that he won’t be the only headline maker on the card. It has been suggested that the show will also feature “another major name debut or return.”
