After months of speculation about her future in professional wrestling, a new report indicates that Trinity Fatu is likely to sign with a major promotion, and not one she’s worked with before.
The former Naomi hasn’t been seen on WWE television since she and tag team partner Sasha Banks defeated Natalya and Shayna Baszler on May 13th. Her last match to date came two days later on a WWE live event, where she and Banks once again faced Baszler and Natalya. The next night, both Fatu and Banks walked out of Monday Night Raw amidst reports of a creative dispute with then-WWE CEO Vince McMahon.
For months, speculation swirled about whether the pair would return to WWE, but it’s since become clear that a return to the sports entertainment giant isn’t in the cards. Banks has since changed her name to Mercedes Mone and signed with NJPW, where she made her debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17 by confronting KAIRI and issuing a challenge for the IWGP Women’s Championship. Mone won the title from KAIRI at Battle in the Valley but lost it to Mayu Iwatani at Stardom All Star Grand Kingdom.
While many expected Fatu to join Mone in New Japan, that hasn’t been the case. One report stated that she was seen as too expensive as the company was trying to keep costs down, but Fatu has disputed that notion. WWE reportedly had interest in bringing her back and had discussions, but a deal was never reached as WWE is currently not hiring new talent. She was also spotted backstage recently at Game Changer Wrestling.
Trinity Fatu Likely To Sign With IMPACT Wrestling
Now, a new report from PWInsider Elite gives a massive update on the former Naomi’s future, saying that she’s expected to make her surprise debut for IMPACT Wrestling when the company heads to Chicago for its upcoming set of tapings this weekend. According to the report, this is not planned to be a one-time appearance, and Fatu is expected to begin a proper run with the company.
