On May 22nd, WWE Raw rolls into the GIANT Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania for the final stop for the red brand ahead of Night of Champions.
What at first appeared to be a relatively run-of-the-mill episode of the show, has now sparked a great deal of speculation online. One of the matches announced ahead of time will see Imperium take on Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, and a mystery partner, and it’s the identity of the third man that has got people talking.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer wondered whether the spot could be taken by Drew McIntyre. The veteran journalist noted that he’s been told that the Scottish star is ready to come back, and this would be a logical opportunity.
McIntyre hasn’t featured on WWE television since being defeated by Gunther in a Triple Threat Match for the Intercontinental Title at WrestleMania 39.
“I’ve seen some people speculate that the mystery partner will be Drew McIntyre. It would make sense. Right now, the last I heard, which was just a couple of days ago, was that he’s just ready for, you know, just waiting for him and creative to agree on the situation that, you know, the injury situation’s pretty much, I mean, I can’t say 100% that it’s cleared up today but I was told that the basic gist is that he’s ready to come back.
I wasn’t told he’s ready to come back Monday. I’ve just been told that he’s ready to come back. Close, you know, soon enough.”
However, it has been reported by WRKD Wrestling that the match will feature a “stylish king,” a reference taken by many to mean Shinsuke Nakamura.
