Kevin Nash 2023: Biography, Net Worth, Family, Income

Kevin Nash was born on July 9th, 1959 in Detroit, Michigan. He is a retired professional wrestler and actor currently signed to WWE under a Legends contract.

He began his legendary wrestling journey in 1990 after training under Jody Hamilton in Atlanta, Georgia. He debuted in WCW that same year at Clash of the Champions XII as one-half of the Mad Max-inspired duo the Master Blasters. The following year he was repackaged as Oz – the Wizard of Oz-inspired gimmick complete with a pointed wizard hat and cape.

In 1992, he was repackaged again, this time a wisecracking, wiseguy mobster based on Steve Martin’s character in the 1990 film My Blue Heaven. After, brief runs in the stables A Half-Ton of Holy Hell and the Diamond Mine he left WCW for WWF at the behest of Shawn Michaels who saw him on television and suggested WWF sign him.

Upon joining the company he was immediately placed with HBK as his bodyguard. Going by the name Diesel he assisted Michaels in winning the Intercontinental Championship from Marty Janetty. His friendship with Michaels on-screen closely mirrored their relationship offscreen too. Alongside fellow WWF Superstars, Razor Ramon, Triple H, and the 123 Kid they formed the group known as the Kliq and were hugely influential in the creative and booking decisions involving each other.

After an impressive showing at the Royal Rumble 1994, in which he eliminated seven other competitors, he captured the IC Title from Razor Roman with help from HBK. Then Two Dudes with Attitudes defeated the Headshrinkers to become Tag Team Champions for the first time. The duo split up after an errant super kick landed took out Diesel and saw him turn face against HBK. Later that year he shockingly defeated Bob Buckland in eight seconds to win the WWF Championship. This led to further rivalry with Michaels who was jealous his bodyguard won the title before he did.

Diesel successfully defended the title against Michaels at WrestleMania 11. The duo rekindled their friendship after Michaels was betrayed by his new bodyguard Psycho Sid later that year Two Dudes with Attitudes reunited to win the WWF Tag Team Championships for the second time.

After losing the title to Bret Hart in Survivor Series Diesel remained in the title scene, however, later that year WCW came knocking offering a huge guaranteed-money deal that saw him and Razor Ramon jump to the rival company. But before they left WWF they were involved in the famous “Curtain Call” incident in which the Kliq all broke character to bid farewell to themselves and the crowd.

In 1996, Kevin Nash made his debut on WCW Nitro when he joined Scott Hall as the other half of The Outsiders. The invading duo warned another member would be joining them to take over the company. At Bash at the Beach, Hall and Nash fought the team of Lex Luger, Sting, and Randy Savage before Hulk Hogan shocked the wrestling world to reveal himself to be the third man thus creating the New World Order.

The nWo quickly became the hottest brand in the industry and turned WCW into the number-one professional wrestling promotion in the world. As the faction ran roughshod over the company Nash and Hall captured the WCW Tag Team Championships for the first time.

A power struggle broke out within the group in 1997 Nash turned on Hogan and sided with Randy Savage, Lex Luger, and Sting to form the nWo Wolfpac. The following year, he won World War 3 and then at Starrcade, defeated Goldberg for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship and ended his 173-0 undefeated streak in the process. After winning the title he feuded with Hogan and they were set to fight over the title.

However, the match was a big swerve to reunite the original nWo and Hogan lightly poked Nash in the chest, who then fell down allowing his opponent to pin him to win the title. The infamous incident known as the Finger Poke of Doom is widely regarded as one of the factors toward WCW’s demise.

In addition to his in-ring career, Nash also made an impact behind the scenes. In 1999, he became the promotion’s head booker and was heavily involved in the creative aspects of WCW. Nash won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship for the second time by defeating Diamond Dallas Page at Slamboree. Later that year, Nash formed nWo 2000 alongside Hall, Hart, and Jeff Jarrett.

The revival was short-lived and after a brief stint as WCW Commissioner Nash elected to wait out the remainder of his contract, following the WWF’s purchase of the company in 2001.

In 2002, Nash alongside Hall and Hogan made a sensational return to WWE as the nWo, but disbanded a few months later. After two lengthy spells on the sidelines due to injury Nash then entered a feud with Triple H that culminated in a Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood in 2003.

In 2004, Nash signed with TNA and appeared at the inaugural pay-per-view, Victory Road. He feuded with Jeff Jarrett in a series of matches over the NWA World Heavyweight Championship before joining the Main Event Mafia with Sting, Booker T, Kurt Angle, and Scott Steiner.

After leaving TNA, Nash made his return to WWE appearing in the 2011 Royal Rumble as Deisel. Nash competed in the 2014 Royal Rumble match before inducting Scott Hall into the WWE Hall of Fame. Nash was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2015 for the first time. In 2020 he was inducted as a founding member of the nWo.
