First Ever Blood & Guts Match Confirmed

AEW Blood & Guts

AEW‘s first-ever Blood and Guts Match has been confirmed!

On the May 5th episode of Dynamite, emanating from Daily’s Place, Inner Circle takes on The Pinnacle in the highly-anticipated match, after the inaugural clash was postponed in 2020.

The news came on this week’s show as Chris Jericho said The Pinnacle gave his faction a “wake-up call” before blaming the group’s actions over the past six months on MJF. Jericho would take aim at Jericho, saying his former protege stole the scarf gimmick from him before announcing that Inner Circle and The Pinnacle will face off in a Blood and Guts Match on the May 5th edition Dynamite!

The clash will see MJF, Wardlow, Shawn Spears, Cash Wheeler and Dash Harwood take on Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, Sammy Guevara, Santana and Ortiz in one giant covered cage, suspected to be across two rings – much like the traditional WarGames format.

The Blood and Guts special of AEW was previously scheduled to air live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on March 25th, 2020, but was postponed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The first-ever Blood and Guts match was originally scheduled to have Matt Hardy (replacing a then-injured Nick Jackson) team with The Elite – Adam Page, Cody, Kenny Omega, and Matt Jackson – to face The Inner Circle’s Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, Sammy Guevara, Santana and Ortiz).
